What’s Love Got To Do With It?

A cross-cultural romantic comedy starring Lily James (Baby Driver, Rebecca), Shazad Latif (Star Trek: Discovery, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel) and Emma Thompson (Beauty and the Beast, Bridget Jones’s Baby). Directed by Shekhar Kapur (Elizabeth), the film starts shooting in December 2020 and is set between London and South Asia.

The film will be written and produced by Jemima Khan. Nicky Kentish Barnes (About Time, About a Boy) is also producing, alongside Working Title Films’ Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan. STUDIOCANAL is fully financing.

Shekhar Kapur says, “I’ve never read a script as intense, as provocative and as witty as What’s Love Got to Do With It? This is a film for our times, if there is one. As a director who is constantly exploring the feminine, I’ve yet to read a character as complex and as funny as Zoe.”
